To become a Drone Pilot in India, one must meet the following requirements set by DGCA. (Ref. Part 6, Drone Rules 2021)
- Must be above 18 years and under 65 years.
- Have passed 10th standards or equivalent.
- Must undergo training at DGCA-authorized Remote Pilot Training Organization (RPTO).
- Meet the competency requirements of RPTO in theory and practical flying sessions.
After clearing the requirements an individual is awarded a Remote Pilot Certificate (RPC) by RPTO which is authorized by DGCA.
This Remote Pilot Certificate will stand valid for up to 10 years unless it is suspended or canceled.
Suspension or Cancellation of the Remote Pilot Certificate can happen if any RPC holder :
- Violates the Drone Rules, 2021 or any other applicable law.
- Endangerment of public safety or security.
- Incompetence or incapacity to operate a drone.
- False or misleading information regarding drone operations.
